a big topic in the news. what pastor of the affordable care act affects medicaid recipients. >> this is supposed to be a fairly simple question the a fairly simple question to answer. $15,000 and change that we're supposed to secure coverage for anyone. they did not have to be disabled. it is a patchwork of requirements in all of the states and d.c. the supreme court upheld the rest of the law last year saying states could opt out of the extension. about half the states are doing it. host: why only half the states? guest: it is almost entirely a partisan issue. there are a couple of republican governors they got behind this and a few democrats that were not able to get their legislators on board with it. there are a lot of reasons cited by opponents of the expansion. mainly it comes down to money. the government is paying the entire cost of the expansion. states will pick up 10% in future years. for some states, that 10% is more than they wanted to spend. host: we are talking to jeffrey young, health-care reporter for "the huffington post." the number for republicans, 202- 5

. the website is better than ever and the affordable care act is working. as shannon travis reports, the president is trying to spread the word. >> reporter: criticism from republicans on obamacare and chronic problems to the website, president obama is set to go on offense.: president obama will spend the next three weeks making sure you know about the benefits of the affordable care act, and making sure americans know the website is up and running. >>"this law is working, and will work in the future. people want the stability of health insurance and we're gonna work on fixing whatever problems come up. >> reporter:saturday was the deadline for fixing healthcare-dot-gov. after its disastrous roll-out in october. among those fixes: a waiting room for high- traffic periods, where users have the option to be emailed to return when traffic has eased. some >> reporter:healthcare-dot- gov says more than a million people visited the website monday, with no major problems. >>"we won't be satisfied until every person who wants insurance in this country has the opportunity to purchase that.

are in favor of the affordable care act while the same percentage to do not approve of the law. this is despite two-thirds of the uninsured residents who said they plan on getting coverage by nec's share now that it is more available. at the same time, the job or graying has taken a hit, a 51 percent of californians approved. that matches a record low from two years ago and is now down 10 points from last summer. >> nobody deal yet in washington. republican paul ryan and democrat party patty murray are narrowing down the issues in the potential spending bill. the two sides to try to close at $100 billion gap. the bill currently funding the government runs out mid january. >> the time is 7:21 a.m.. scientists say that whoever stole of radioactive material in mexico and removed it from the container will not have long to live. a truck caring the kobolds-68 was stolen from a gas station on monday. authorities located the truck and the dangerous material wednesday, but the kobold-60 was remote. there stating that whoever came into contact with that radioactive material is in grave danger. >> wildli
